The 2026 Michelin Guide Tokyo recognizes three exceptional Indian restaurants, all earning Bib Gourmand status for their outstanding value and culinary excellence.
The 2026 edition welcomes Biryani Osawa to join returning Bib Gourmand recipients SANTOSHAM and Kacchal Bacchal. Biryani Osawa represents a unique concept in the global dining scene—a reservation-only restaurant serving exclusively biryani, with all 10 counter seats starting simultaneously timed to the rice’s completion.

Overview: Authentic South Indian restaurant where local chef and owner couple share the true flavors of their homeland. Specializes in coastal cuisine featuring coconut sweetness, curry leaf aromatics, and black pepper heat, with fresh seafood reflecting the region’s maritime culture. “Santosham” means “happiness” in the local language—a feeling they aim to deliver with every dish.

This unique dining format operates on a two-seating system, preparing 20 portions per cooking. The restaurant has achieved legendary status with a remarkable 4.03 Tabelog rating—exceeding the rare 4.0 threshold.
The menu focuses on three varieties:
- Mutton Biryani (Tuesday, Wednesday, Saturday lunch and dinner) – ¥3,000
- Chicken Biryani (Thursday dinner and Friday lunch only) – ¥3,300
- Seasonal Biryani (Friday dinner only, featuring premium ingredients like lobster and oysters)
