■Intro
If Nishinari shows one side of Osaka,
Tenjinbashisuji shows another.
Long, local, and completely everyday.
No theme. No curation.
Just life.
■The Walk
This is the longest covered shopping street in Japan.
- Full length: about 2.6 km
- Real walking route: about 1.6 km
From Tenjinbashisuji 6-chome → Tenma or Minamimorimachi
■Access
From Umeda:
- Walk to Higashi-Umeda Station
- Take the Tanimachi Line
- About 4 minutes
From Namba:
- Subway to Nipponbashi
- Transfer to Sakaisuji Line
- About 10 minutes
👉 If you get lost underground:
Look for signs:
- “Tenjinbashisuji Shotengai”
- Exit 3 or Exit 11
■What You’ll See
This is not a tourist street.
It’s where people live.
- Fish shops
- Vegetable stores
- Supermarkets
- Small restaurants
- Random bargain shops
Everything is mixed together.
👉 In a 1.6 km walk, I saw only 4 groups of foreign visitors
(all Western travelers)
This place is just starting to be discovered.
■Food Stops
■Maeda Tofu Shop

A small tofu shop with something unexpected:
👉 Tofu pudding
Light, clean, and surprisingly good.
Honestly better than regular pudding.
- ¥300
- Maple syrup (+¥50)
When I said I came from Tokyo just for this,
the owner smiled and gave me the syrup for free.

■Nakayamura Croquette Stand

Takeaway only.
- Croquette: ¥100
- Menchi katsu: ¥160
There was a short line (7–8 people),
but it moved fast.

Fresh, hot, simple.
And there’s a small standing space in front,
so you don’t have to eat on the street.
■A Missed Spot
There’s also a well-known takoyaki shop nearby.
Different style — no sauce, focused on dashi flavor.
But when I went:
👉 It was closed
👉 No sign, no notice
This happens.
■Time Needed

- Walk + food stops: 90–120 minutes
No rush.
■Why It Matters
This place doesn’t try to impress you.
It doesn’t need to.
👉 This is Osaka without editing.
👉 Just everyday life, stretched across 1.6 km.
■Final Thought
After Nishinari, this feels calm.
After Namba, this feels real.
👉 Walk it once.
👉 That’s enough.
